About Chris

As a person with ADHD, I fully embrace the strengths and challenges of executive functioning differences experienced by those affected by ADHD and Autism. Basing my approach on the concept of “cultural diagnoses,” I enjoy helping others recognize their potential in personal, social, academic, and professional arenas. ADHD/Autism have huge impacts on our intimate relationships as well, so supporting parents and couples in navigating the hurdles (and identifying the enjoyable quirks!) of loving someone with these qualities is vital to the family’s overall health. I am also an ally of the LGBTQ community and embrace diversity.

Therapy Style

Contrary to many therapists, I believe in the human connection made possible through helpful transparency. Acknowledging honestly when I don’t understand your dilemma, offering personal insights, and sharing stories of my own experiences is a standard part of practice for clients working with me. Establishing and nurturing the therapeutic relationship is imperative for our ongoing trust, respect, and communication as we work together towards your goals.

I use an integrative approach including Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and experiential exercises. Understanding our individual strengths and challenges is the first step to increasing self awareness and subsequently regulation of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. These are greatly impacted by our relationships, so identifying and practicing healthy strategies for connection is often at the forefront whether working with an individual, parents, siblings, couples, or within a group. In addition, due to my own ADHD diagnosis and based on the motivation of many clients, sessions usually involve “more than talking” such as board games, walking, reviewing movie clips, selecting “session soundtracks” to play while we meet, or sharing our latest tech tools.
